Druware Music Bingo Companion
Play Music Bingo on your phone — no paper cards. Scan to join, tap or let Shazam auto-mark your cards, and call BINGO. The companion to Music Bingo. A one time $0.99 for the companion.
Music Bingo Companion puts your bingo cards on your phone. When a host runs a Music Bingo night, you join their game and play along on your own device — no paper cards to print, carry, or lose, and nothing to set up.
Joining takes seconds: scan the host's QR code or type the six-character game code, pick how many cards you want, and you're in. Your cards live in a swipeable deck — flip between them, tap any square to mark a song as it plays, and choose your own marker color. Under the game's card limit? Grab an extra card without leaving.
Don't want to watch every square? Turn on Listen & Auto-Mark. When the host enables it, Companion uses Shazam to identify the music playing around you and marks matching songs across all your cards at once — completely hands-free. Your audio is sent only to Shazam (Apple) to identify the track; nothing is recorded or stored.
It's a companion to the Music Bingo host app, built for iPhone and iPad, and you can be in more than one game at a time. Show up, scan, and play.
Music Bingo Companion — FAQ & Support
Joining a Game
Q: How do I join a game? Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the home screen, then either type the 6-character game code your host shared or tap Scan Join QR Code to point your camera at the host's QR code.
Q: The game code isn't being accepted. What's wrong? Double-check the code with your host — codes are case-insensitive but must be entered exactly. If the code is correct and still fails, your device may not be able to reach the game server; check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
Q: My host sent me a link. How do I use it?
Tap the musicbingo-player:// link and Companion will launch and pre-fill the game code automatically. Choose your number of cards and tap Claim Cards to finish joining.
Q: Can I join more than one game at a time? Yes. The home screen lists all your active sessions. Tap any one to open its card deck.
Bingo Cards
Q: How many cards can I have? That is set by your host. The join screen will show a stepper limited to the host's per-device maximum.
Q: Can I get more cards after I've already joined? Yes, as long as you are still under your host's per-device limit. Tap the stacked-cards icon in the toolbar while viewing your card deck to claim one more card without leaving the game.
Q: My cards look wrong or out of date. How do I refresh them? Pull down on the card deck to re-sync with the server and pick up any changes the host made.
Q: How do I move between cards? Swipe left or right. The page dots at the bottom of the screen show which card you are on.
Marking Songs
Q: How do I mark a song? Tap the cell for that song. Tap it again to un-mark it.
Q: Can I change my marker colour? Yes. Tap the colour circle in the toolbar to open the colour picker. The new colour applies to all marks on all your cards immediately.
Q: I accidentally marked the wrong cell. Can I undo it? Tap the cell again — it toggles off.
Q: How do I call BINGO? Shout it out to your host and show them your card. The host uses the Music Bingo host app to scan or type your card ID and verify the win before awarding it.
Listen & Auto-Mark
Q: What is Auto-Mark / Shazam listening? When your host enables it, a Shazam button appears in the toolbar. Tap it and Companion listens to the music playing around you and automatically marks any matching songs on all your cards — no manual tapping needed.
Q: The Shazam button isn't showing up. Why? Auto-Mark is only available when the host explicitly enables it for the session. If the button is absent, the host has not turned on this feature for the current game.
Q: Does Companion record or store my audio? No. Audio is sent only to Shazam (Apple) for song identification and is not recorded or stored by Music Bingo Companion. Listening stops as soon as you tap the button again or switch away from the app.
Q: Companion asked for microphone access and I said no. Can I change that? Yes. Open Settings ? Music Bingo Companion ? Microphone on your device and turn it on.
Q: Auto-Mark identified the song but didn't mark my card. Why? The identified song must exactly match one of the songs on your card as set up by the host. If the host's playlist uses a different version or spelling of a song, it may not match.
Managing Sessions
Q: How do I leave a game? Open the card deck for that session and tap Leave Game in the toolbar. This removes all your cards for that session from your device. Other players and the host are not affected.
Q: How do I remove a single card without leaving the game? Tap the trash icon in the toolbar while viewing the card you want to discard.
Q: I left a game by accident. Can I re-join? Yes. Ask your host for the game code and join again using the + button. You will receive a new card — your previous marks cannot be restored.
Settings
Q: What is the Server URL Override? This is an advanced setting for testing against a non-standard server. Under normal conditions you should leave it blank. Games joined by scanning a QR code always use the server address embedded in the code regardless of this setting.
Q: How do I reset the server URL to the default? Open Settings, clear the Server URL field, and tap Done.
Troubleshooting
Q: The app won't connect to the game. What should I try?
- 1Make sure your device has an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
- 2Pull down on the card deck to force a refresh.
- 3Close and reopen Companion.
- 4Ask your host to confirm the game is still active.
- 5If the problem persists, contact support (see below).
Q: The app crashed or something went wrong and I lost my marks. Card marks are stored locally on your device. If Companion crashes, re-open it — your marks should be restored. If they are not, contact support with a description of what happened.
Q: Companion isn't available on my device. Music Bingo Companion requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone or iPad. Earlier iOS versions are not supported.
